She's My Mannequin Chapter 4: To pretend

Yoona pulled Tiffany to the couch as she felt excited about meeting a new girl. It’s not that Yoona doesn’t have any female friends because she has tons but the reason about her excitement is her step-brother Siwon, doesn’t usually bring any girls home. Tiffany was the first one. Yoona smiled at Tiffany and was intrigued about her.

“Tiffany, where are you from?” Yoona asked.

“E-eh?” Tiffany asked back, clueless of what she meant.

“You know, where you came from!” Yoona explained. She looked at Tiffany confused.

“I-I don’t know.” Tiffany just said.

“How come you don’t know?” Yoona asked her. “Do you happen to have an amnesia?”

Siwon was panicking. His mind was troubled. How in the world will he explain to Yoona that Tiffany is not a human but a moving mannequin?  His started sweating and he started to think of a right way to explain it to his step-sister. He felt Donghae nudged him with his elbow and he turned to look at his best friend.

“Tell Yoona about Tiffany.” Donghae mouthed.

“I’m already on that!” Siwon mouthed back.

Tiffany looked at Yoona; her face was so clueless like a blank paper. “Amnesia? What’s an amnesia?” Tiffany asked.

“You mean, you don’t know what’s an amnesia.” Yoona blurted shocked. “Amnesia is like a disease where you forget things.” Yoona explained even though she’s not very good at explaining things especially when those ‘things’ are science related. Yoona despises the subject the most when she were still studying.

Tiffany nodded her head as she absorbed the idea from Yoona. “Is that so?”

“Yeah.” Yoona nodded. “Uhm, work! Where do you work?” She asked again.

“Work? What’s that? Is that a disease?” Tiffany eagerly asked.

“Uhm… no.” Yoona shook her head. She stared at Tiffany’s face. She doesn’t seem like dumb when she stared at her face. In fact, Yoona thinks Tiffany looks smart. Yoonoa was never wrong on her first impressions. When I say never, I meant NEVER! Just like for example, her friend Sooyoung. When she first saw her, she thought she’s a shikshin and she was right! And also Taeyeon, she thought she’ll be ahjumma-like and she was right again! But now, what’s wrong with Tiffany? Yoona can’t be wrong.

“Uh no, it’s not a disease.” Yoona replied. Suddenly, she felt someone grab her arm and dragged her away from Tiffany. When they were away and inaudible from where Tiffany was, they stopped and Yoona turned to the owner of the hand who dragged her away and found her brother, Siwon.

“Yah! What’s the matter?” She complained.

Siwon put his index finger on Yoona’s lip to hush her. “Ssh. Tiffany is not what you think.”

Yoona looked at him weirdly as if he was spouting strange words. “What do you mean?” She asked. She looked at Tiffany who was sitting quietly and innocently with Donghae.

“I’m never wrong of my first impressions.” She added.

“No, it’s not that!” Siwon said. “It’s just… she’s not what you think she is.”

“You mean she’s a prostitute?!” Yoona said, half-shouting. Siwon covered Yoona’s mouth with his hands to hush her again. Yoona removed his hands from her mouth as she understood his message of her being quiet. “I always thought she’s innocent.”

Yoona sighed. “She’s even so pretty!” She added.

“No, not that!” Siwon said. “She’s… she’s…”

“She’s what, oppa? Is she a slut?” Yoona asked.

“Never use that word Yoona!” Siwon scolded her.

“Sorry.” She apologized. “Then, she’s what?” 

“Tiffany’s not a human.” He revealed.

Yoona’s eyes widened as big as the universe and her jaw dropped. She shook her head in case she heard Siwon wrong. ‘He said what? N-not a human?! Tiffany is what then?’ Yoona thought.

“Eh? B-b-but… b-but she looks like a human!” Yoona protested. “What do you mean she’s not a human? What is she then? A vampire? But she doesn’t even have a cold skin!”

“Chill down. Calm down.” Siwon calmed Yoona first before explaining the whole story to her. “Listen, she’s not a vampire or any scary creature, okay?” Yoona nodded as she understood.

Siwon continued, “Well you see. Uh. How do I explain this?”

“Explain it from the very start but can you tell me what she is first?” Yoona told her brother who was troubled on how to explain all the details about Tiffany to her.

“She’s a…. mannequin. She’s a moving mannequin!” Siwon finally told her.

Yoona gave no reactions. “Okay, the story.”

“Well, I was cleaning the shop like the usual then, I noticed the mannequin moved but at first, I ignored it thinking it might be my imagination. And then, the mannequin moved again as if she was a human!” Siwon told her sister the summary of the story. “I don’t even know how that was possible!”

Yoona listened to all the details. Then, a smile crept on her face. “Oh my gosh! I wasn’t wrong after all! Because it only works on humans!” She cheered.

“Yah! Are you thinking about your stupid impression? We have a serious problem here called Tiffany!”  Siwon reminded Yoona.

“Sorry.” Yoona giggled. “All we need to do is let her pretend as a human until we know the solution. Period.”

“Okay.” Siwon agreed to her sister’s suggestion which is a first time since he never agree to her suggestions because he thinks they were childish. “Since you’re good at lying and making up stories, you help cover up Tiffany’s background and me and Donghae will find the solution. Arasso?”

“Yes, sir!” Yoona replied as she did a salute to Siwon. “One more thing to clear! She’s gonna be my friend, right?”

“Yes, she will.” He answered.

Yoona cheered childishly and clapped her hands. She ran to Tiffany and hugged her, leaving Siwon behind her. She let go of the hug and smiled at Tiffany. “Tiffany you’re gonna be my friend, okay?”

“A friend?” Tiffany repeated. “What’s that?”

“A friend is… like your sister! A someone you can lean on and have some fun with!” Yoona told Tiffany.

“I can be your friend?” Tiffany made sure.

“Of course! Since no one should know that you’re a mannequin, you should pretend to be a human at least. And second step to that is having a friend which is… ME!” Yoona assured Tiffany as she flashed her smile. “Of course, the first step is you having a name that’s why that’s second step already.” Yoona explained.

Tiffany showed off a very charming and hear-melting eye smile and a grin. She clasped her hands excitedly. “Jinjja? We’re friends!” She cheered.

“Uh huh…” Yoona nodded.

“Though I’m not a human, I can still pretend?” Tiffany asked.

“Of course!” Yoona replied.

“Now, let’s go to my room and let’s start discussing about how you act and will be a human!” Yoona told Tiffany. “Kaja?”

Tiffany nodded her head excitedly. “Yes, yes! Let’s go, Yoona!”

Yoona ran upstairs to her room with Tiffany tagging along her. Siwon and Donghae watched the two females ran excitedly to Yoona’s bedroom. Donghae chuckled while Siwon only smiled.

“I wonder if Tiffany will also be girly like your sister, Siwonnie…” Donghae told Siwon.

“You’re wondering about Tiffany being girly like Yoona but you like Yoona?” Siwon stated.

Donghae reddened as red as a rose at Siwon’s statement. “Hey, hey! Who said I like Yoona?” He bowed his head to hide his embarrassment.

“It’s pretty obvious, bro.” Siwon patted Donghae’s back. “So, don’t wonder about Tiffany being girly okay?”

“Hey, are you defending Tiffany now?” Donghae asked him but Siwon already left him chuckling.
