It
was another new day. The teacher was discussing about linear equation and
everybody except for Seohyun was like dying just by listening to the teacher
discussing equations that makes their brain bleed.
“If we are going to look for the values of x in the equations: a)
3x-2y=4 and b) 3x+y=-2, we can use the elimination method instead of the
graphing method.” The teacher discussed. “Both equations are in the form Ax+By=C, if we wish to eliminate
the variable ‘x’, we’ll multiply -1 to equation A.”
It took the teacher to finish discussing the lesson for about half
an hour. The teacher looked at her wristwatch and her class was about to
dismiss. “Class, your assignment is on p. 49 of your Algebra book.”
“Class dismissed.” The teacher said as she got her books from her
table and carried it on her arms. She went out of the classroom before her
students.
“FINALLY!” Sooyoung cheered. “I’ve always known Math is hard and
all and you know I love Math; but this is the first time I waited till Ms. Song
calls the class dismissed.”
Seohyun chuckled at her friend. “It’s not that hard.”
“You don’t know the feeling Seohyun,” Sooyoung told her. “You’re
really good at this.”
Seohyun tried to deny Sooyoung’s comment. “I’m not.”
“Yes, you are!” Sooyoung insisted. “Come on! Let’s meet Sunkyu. I
want to go to the cafeteria now because I’m really starving.”
Sooyoung and Seohyun searched for Sunny in her classroom but she
was no longer there. Sunny wasn’t their classmate in Math. But she was only one
section lower than Seohyun and Sooyoung.
Instead, they found her with her boyfriend, Sungmin. Seohyun waved
her arms up high to call out for Sunny. “LEE SUNKYU!” Sooyoung shouted.
Sunny and Sungmin ran towards them.
“Let’s eat!” Sooyoung invited. “I might eat Sungmin-ssi for no
reason.”
“What did you say?” Sungmin asked Sooyoung in a frightened tone as
he covered himself.
“Syoung unnie is a shikshin and her hunger is uncontrollable.”
Seohyun told Sungmin.
“She once attempted on eating me one day. She was really hungry
that day.” Seohyun added as if trying to scare Sungmin which was pretty
successful.
Sungmin stared at Sooyoung in horror and hid behind Sunny. “You’re
not a human!” He commented.
“Don’t worry, Minnie. She’ll not eat you.” Sunny assured Sungmin.
“You’re friends with Ryeowook and Sooyoungie wouldn’t lose her only chance to
get closer to him.” Sunny revealed.
Sungmin raised his left eyebrow and asked, “You like Ryeow—“
“Shut up, Sunkyu, Sungmin!” Sooyoung hissed.
“Let’s just eat, okay?” Seohyun pulled them all towards the
cafeteria before Sunny could argue with Sooyoung.
“You’re right, Seobaby.” Sooyoung said.
They all went to the cafeteria. When they entered inside, Sunny
searched for an empty table and they all sat on its chairs. Sooyoung got their
orders and she went to buy for them.
“I’ve been thinking.” Sunny started.
Seohyun stared at Sunny curiously. “What’s on your mind, unnie?”
“You know, it’s been a while since the last time we did a
sleepover at Sooyoung’s apartment.” Sunny said.
“You guys do sleepovers?” Sungmin cut in.
“Yep!” Sunny nodded. “We’ve been doing this since we’re kids. It’s
like our very own tradition!” She told him.
“Oh really? But what do you guys do during your sleepovers?”
Sungmin asked.
“Nothing much.” Seohyun answered. “We just talk about something,
bond, play games, and study.” She added.
Sooyoung came, holding a tray of foods. She placed it on the table
and went back. She returned with another tray. She sat on the front chair with
Sunny on her left and Seohyun on her right.
She took a bite of her sandwich and asked, “What are you guys
talking about?” It was not very clear since her mouth was full.
“Unnie, don’t talk while your mouth is full.” Seohyun scolded her.
Sooyoung chewed and swallowed the food. “Sorry.” She apologized.
“So? What are you guys talking about?”
“I’ve been thinking, Syoung. I think it’s time to have another
sleepover!” Sunny told her idea.
“Sleepover? When was our last sleepover?” Sooyoung asked.
“I don’t know. I can’t remember.” Sunny said.
“I think it was 9 months ago.” Seohyun told the two girls. Then,
she took a bite on her sandwich.
Suddenly, a man’s figure approached their table. He was holding a
tray of food with his bag on his back.
“Kyuhyun-ah!” Sungmin called out.
“Mind if I join you guys?” Kyuhyun asked, politely which was a first time hearing by
Sunny and Sooyoung.
“Wow! I didn’t know Kyuhyun’s polite!” Sooyoung teased.
“Ha ha ha!” Kyuhyun sarcastically laughed.
“Sure, we don’t mind.” Sunny told him.
Kyuhyun smiled at them as a thank you and sat at the empty seat
beside Seohyun. He placed his tray on the table and started eating his food.
“Well? What do you guys think?” Sunny asked Seohyun and Sooyoung.
“Sure! Why not?” Sooyoung said.
“Uhm, I guess we should. It’s been a long time since we’ve done
it.” Seohyun told them.
“Yay!” Sunny cheered.
“Just curious but what are you guys talking about?” Kyuhyun
interrupted.
“Why do you need to know?” Sooyoung asked.
“I’m just curious. No need to be furious.” Kyuhyun said.
“They’re having a sleepover, Kyu.” Sungmin told him and then, he
pouted.
“Why are you pouting?” Kyuhyun asked.
“Don’t mind me.” Sungmin said as he continued to pout. Kyuhyun
rolled his eyes and ignored his pouting friend.
“But whose house this time?” Seohyun asked.
Sunny thought deeply. “How about in your apartment, Sooyoung?” She
asked.
“I don’t know.” Sooyoung said unsure.
“How about in your house, Hyunnie?” Sunny asked.
“Uhm, we don’t stay there anymore.” Seohyun told Sunny.
“Huh? Since when did you move? And where?” Sooyoung asked.
“Uhm… Remember what I told you guys?” Seohyun reminded them.
“She’s living with me.” Kyuhyun told them. “Not exactly. Yoona
noona and she are living with me and Donghae hyung. And my auntie.”
“Oh yeah!” Sunny said.
“We almost forgot.” Sooyoung said.
“So, it’s an automatic no.” Sunny said.
“Then that leaves you Sunkyu.” Sooyoung told Sunny.
“Let me ask my uncle first.” Sunny said. She got her cellphone
from her pocket and started composing a message for her uncle.
Then, there was silence. No one spoke. They were just eating their
foods and all and nothing more. The silence was broken when Sunny groaned.
“Sorry, guys. But uncle said no.”
Sooyoung and Seohyun pouted. Now where are they gonna have their
sleepover?
Kyuhyun secretly watched Seohyun. The moments like ‘Seohyun
pouting” is very rare for others to witness. He secretly grinned at her. She
was very adorable. He can’t get enough of it.
“And even if uncle says yes, we’re still incomplete. Yoona unnie
is not joining!” Sunny said.
“It’s not like she’ll leave Kyuhyun’s cousin just for our
sleepover.” Sooyoung added.
“Yoona noona joins your sleepover?” Kyuhyun suddenly asked. He
never imagined Yoona, the
only-girl-who-got-guts-to-prank-Donghae-with-salt-kimbap-which-was-never-done-before,
would actually join Seohyun and her friends’ sleepover.
“Yeah.” Sunny answered. “Yoona unnie is friends with me and
Sooyoung. She always hangs out with us.”
“Really?” Kyuhyun asked once more.
“Hmmm…” Seohyun nodded. “Unnie is really friendly.”
Kyuhyun just nodded.
“Hey! I have an idea!” Sungmin blurted.
Kyuhyun stared at Sungmin and he frowned. He’s probably out to
something not very… very… good. Something that Kyuhyun will not like. Kyuhyun
memorized Sungmin and by the way Sungmin’s expression looked, it didn’t look
good.
“Spill.” Sooyoung told Sungmin.
“You guys can use my apartment.” Sungmin suggested.
“Why do you want to lend your apartment… just for our sleepover,
Sungmin-ssi?” Seohyun asked curiously.
“So that... me and Kyuhyun can join you!” Sungmin cheered. He
clasped his palms together many times while smiling.
‘I knew it! Bad idea!’ Kyuhyun thought. “No! Why would
we join them?”
Sungmin groaned and pouted at Kyuhyun. “But their sleepover seems
like fun…” Sungmin babbled.
“No, that’s girly!” Kyuhyun complained.
Sungmin put his hands together and put on his famous puppy eyes.
He pouted his lips and stared at Kyuhyun. “Pwease!” Sungmin baby-talked.
Sooyoung and Sunny seems like they disapprove too. Seohyun had no
reaction, she was okay with him coming or not. But a part of her felt like she
wants him to come and be with her. She didn’t understand the feeling.
Sunny suddenly smirked in an evil way. She turned to Sooyoung and
her eyes were like talking to her. As if she was telling her to trust her.
“You should join.” Sunny suggested.
“What!?” Kyuhyun piped. “There is… no…” He looked at the others’
expression and they seems like they were telling him to join. “Way I’ll join!”
He continued.
“Come on, Kyuhyun!” Sunny pleaded him. “Yoona unnie’s not joining
so no one will watch over Seohyun.” Sunny reasoned to Kyuhyun.
Seohyun widened her eyes at Sunny. Did she just use her as an
excuse for him to join? Yes, she just did.
“Watch over her? Is she like a… grown up now? Why does she need to
be watched over?” Kyuhyun argued.
“Come on, Kyuhyun! Just say yes!” Sungmin told him.
“Guys, you don’t need to—“ Seohyun was interrupted.
“You see, Kyuhyun. Seohyun… is a very important girl. Yoona unnie
wants her always safe. Who knows what might happen to her if she goes alone?”
Sooyoung told Kyuhyun dramatically.
“Fine! I’ll join…” Kyuhyun gave in. “… for Seohyun.” He muttered
the last two words.
Their conversation was interrupted when the bell rang.
“Let’s just plan some other time.” Sunny said and Sungmin nodded.
Sunny and Sungmin left first and Sooyoung followed. Seohyun and
Kyuhyun were left. Suddenly, they heard Sooyoung holler.
“Sungmin-ah! Why can’t you invite Wookie oppa?”
Seohyun and Kyuhyun chuckled. Then there’s silence. “Music class
is next. So… shall we go, classmate?”
Seohyun shyly nodded. She grinned at him. “Yes. Let’s go.”
Seohyun and Kyuhyun walked together to class. And without knowing,
Seohyun felt her heart leaped.
